Our Priorities
- Protect Wetlands and Watercourses: Enforce regulations that safeguard water quality, reduce flooding risk, and preserve Ridgefield’s ecosystems.
- Advance Balanced, Responsible Growth: Continue to review development applications with fairness, ensuring compliance while allowing for sensible growth.
- Utilize Science-Based Oversight: Apply soil science and hydrology best practices in every review, bringing rigor and accuracy to board decisions.
- Practice Transparency and Accountability: Ensure all decisions are made openly and consistently, with reference to the facts on the record.
- Increase Community Education: Produce a homeowner-centric guide to enhance understanding of IWB regulations.
- Promote Earth-Friendly Solutions: Suggest native plantings to enhance homeowner landscapes while minimizing upkeep. Require the use of Low Impact Development (LID) practices where possible to reduce stormwater runoff.
- Maintain Future Focus: Strengthen collaboration on conservation, stormwater management, and climate resilience to protect Ridgefield for generations.

Noah Berkowicz Noah has served with distinction on the IWB, applying his commitment as an environmental steward to every choice before the board. A veteran executive in talent acquisition, Noah contributes sharp analysis and a pragmatic perspective to the complex oversight required of IWB members. As a 3-year resident raising a young family in Ridgefield, Noah is dedicated to building a vibrant future for our town.
Keith Carlson Keith leverages his expertise as an architect, UX designer, and professor to the intricate work of the IWB, and is devoted to increasing community engagement. A collaborative leader, Keith has demonstrated sound judgment and a proven ability to balance thoughtful growth with protection of natural resources throughout his service on the board.
David L. Smith Since 2021, David has lent his passion as an ecological guardian and former Park Ranger to the IWB. With a background as a healthcare professional, David demonstrates fair-minded judgment and a nuanced understanding of environmental regulations. A 23-year Ridgefield resident, David is deeply attuned to Ridgefield’s values and is committed to safeguarding its treasured landscapes.
