Police Commission: Vote for Sharon Dornfeld and Stephen Riebling
This November 4th Ridgefielders will vote to decide who will represent them on the Police Commission. My endorsement is for Current Chair Sharon Dornfeld and Stephen Riebling.
I would venture to guess that most of us don’t know much about our Police Commission. However, their duties and responsibilities are quite significant.
- General management and supervision of the Police Department.
- Sole power of appointment, promotion and termination of Officers and members of the Police Department.
- Promulgation of Rules and Regulations for the Department.
- And the Police Commission also functions as the Town Traffic Authority.
Given the role of the Police Commission, we need Ridgefielders willing to serve who have a deep understanding of the law, seasoned and rational analytical skills and an empathetic and civic mindset. Fortunately for us, we have two such candidates in Ms. Dornfeld and Mr. Riebling.
Both Ms. Dornfeld and Mr. Riebling are accomplished attorneys. Ms. Dornfeld has a 40-year career in child advocacy and Mr. Riebling has spent 28 years in criminal defense and family law, experience that is needed on the Police Commission. Both are long-term Ridgefielders with a strong sense of civic duty. Earlier this year, Ms. Dornfeld and her husband were honored for their roles in establishing the A Better Chance program in Ridgefield. Mr. Riebling is a volunteer coach for the Ridgefield High School football team and a bestselling author.
Please join me in voting for Sharon Dornfeld and Stephen Riebling, whose dedication to Ridgefield are needed on the Police Commission, and in voting Row A for all the excellent Democratic candidates stepping up to serve Ridgefield.
