State Rep. Supports Dornfeld & Riebling for BOPC

As we prepare to vote for the Board of Police Commissioners this November, remember what’s at stake: the safety of our streets and community, and the focus of local policy that impacts every family. Sharon Dornfeld and Stephen Riebling bring the experience, values, and forward-thinking leadership we need.

As the House Chair of the Transportation Committee in the General Assembly, I’ve had experience advancing statewide policies that make our communities safer and more connected. From modernizing transportation infrastructure to improving pedestrian and cyclist safety, these initiatives align closely with the vision our local Democratic candidates have for Ridgefield. They understand that good policing doesn’t happen in isolation, but in a larger public safety ecosystem that includes safe roads, clear emergency response coordination, and strong community engagement.

Statewide, Democrats have invested in planning: designing roads to accommodate cars, buses, bikes, and pedestrians safely. We’ve championed Vision Zero principles to eliminate traffic fatalities and injuries. Our local candidates recognize how these policies can be applied in Ridgefield, ensuring our police work hand-in-hand with town planners to reduce speeding, improve crosswalk visibility, and enhance safe routes to schools.

Dornfeld and Riebling are committed to modern policing standards, including training in de-escalation, transparency, and community-based policing. Democratic leadership in Hartford has long supported resources for police departments to adopt better data practices and improve accountability, tools our candidates will use to strengthen trust between officers and residents.

Safety means more than just responding to emergencies. It means preventing them. Sharon Dornfeld and Stephen Riebling are best positioned to link state policy successes with local needs. They will deliver a Ridgefield that is safe, forward-looking, fair, and connected. I urge my fellow residents to Vote Row A all the way when early voting begins October 20th

State Rep. Aimee Berger-Girvalo
