  • Wanted: YOU! Join the Ridgefield Democratic Town Committee

Curious about the DTC? Wondering what it actually does? Let’s break it down.

    What Is the Ridgefield DTC?

The Ridgefield Democratic Town Committee (DTC) is the official, state-recognized organization that runs the Democratic Party in Ridgefield. Every Connecticut municipality can have one. Ours has 27 members and can grow to 35.

Every two years, all registered Ridgefield Democrats meet at a caucus to decide who will serve on the DTC. The next caucus is January 8, 2026. Those elected will serve through early March 2028.

You could be one of them.

Our Mission: Keep Ridgefield Thriving by Electing Democrats

    We do two big things:

    1. Choose Democratic candidates for Ridgefield’s municipal elections (every other odd year—so next up is November 2027).
    2. Help our candidates win, at every level, every year. That means organizing, communicating, and mobilizing voters.

So, in even-numbered years, like 2026, we support efforts to elect Ridgefield’s four Democratic state legislators (two state representatives and two state senators). And, especially important due to the urgency of national issues, we work alongside CT Dems, other statewide groups and the DNC to help elect Democrats to our state constitutional offices (governor, etc.) and Congress.

Finally, we act as a resource hub for Democrats interested in supporting vital campaigns, allies or initiatives in nearby Connecticut and, sometimes, in other states (see our Action Center).

The best part? Local politics is where our voice has the biggest impact. Our work is felt immediately, by our neighbors, our schools, our town, our state.

    How We Do It

We meet monthly (plus a few special meetings) to plan strategy, and then the real work happens between meetings. Members plug into committees and projects that match their interests and strengths.

    During campaign season, we:

    • Knock on doors
    • Phone bank
    • Write postcards and letters
    • Recruit and train volunteers
    • Share candidate and voting info
    • Create clear, timely communications

The rest of the year, we stay engaged with Ridgefield:

    • Hosting events
    • Sharing updates via email and social media
    • Attending town meetings
    • Keeping residents informed about local and state government

Tasks are manageable and varied. Every little bit helps. Dropping off chairs for a small gathering, setting up a tables for an event, writing postcards, drafting a short website article–so many possibilities! With up to 35 people sharing the load, everyone finds a role that’s doable, meaningful, and fun.
