The Ridgefield Democratic Town Committee is diving into Donald Trump’s Mandate for Leadership:
The Conservative Promise, known as Project 2025.
It starts off noble enough.
“Freedom is a fragile thing and it’s never more than one generation away from extinction. It is not ours by way of inheritance; it must be fought for and defended constantly by each generation.” President Ronald Reagan.
We agree.
But then Project 2025 descends into a full-fledged tirade against the fundamental freedoms set forth in our Constitution.
Welcome to Project 2025.
Page 3: P2025 Objectives
- “Restore the family as the centerpiece of American life and protect our children.
- “Dismantle the administrative state and return self-governance to the American people.
- “Defend our nation’s sovereignty, borders, and bounty against global threats.
- “Secure our God-given individual rights to live freely-what our Constitution calls ‘the Blessings of Liberty.’”
30 chapters. 922 pages. Authored by the ultra-conservative Heritage Foundation that gave us the right-wing Supreme Court. Written by 400 ultra-MAGA Conservatives, so-called scholars and policy experts. With “hundreds of clear and concrete policy recommendations for White House offices, Cabinet departments, Congress, and agencies, commissions, and boards.” Their exact words. Not ours.
It’s a detailed blueprint for the end of the American way of life. The demise of Democracy as we know it, love it and have lived it for 248 years.
We can stop this “mandate” from becoming reality on January 21, 2025. Every American, Democrat or not, can have a role in stopping it—starting now and right through Election Day, Nov. 5.
Project 2025 is the radical 920-page blueprint by The Heritage Foundation that would allow a future far-right administration to swiftly dismantle our democratic institutions & redefine the way our country operates.
It threatens everything from using the word “Gender” (page 5) to what our children can and cannot learn in school.
On page 8, Project 2025 accuses the Department of Education of injecting racist, anti-American, a historical propaganda into America’s classrooms. Last time we looked, that was called HISTORY.
In an entire chapter, pages 319-362, they say: “For the sake of American children, Congress should shutter The Department of Education & return control of education to the states.” By removing federal oversight, states could dole out money as they see fit, including prioritizing private & religious schools over public schools.
States could provide radically different qualities of education & curricula, a trend already on the rise. For instance, in Louisiana, a new law requires schools to display the Ten Commandments in all classrooms. In Oklahoma, the state superintendent has directed all schools to begin teaching the Bible.
Without federal accountability, this type of overreach would likely skyrocket.
Without adequate funding, our special needs and LBGTQ students would suffer.
The purpose of public education has always been to give our children the knowledge, skills, tools & development they need to thrive as individuals & as citizens of our democracy.
We are very proud of the quality of the 9 public schools in the Ridgefield district. If Project 2025 has their way, our schools could be stripped of funding & protections for our students.
Project 2025 is prepared to go to incredible lengths to create a country only for some, not for all of us.
We cannot allow it to happen.
We need President Kamala Harris, a House of Representatives, U.S. Senate, State & Local government like Ridgefield’s own @senatorjulie; @senatorcecimaher; @aimeebergergirvaloct; @savetconstantinect to protect quality education for all of our children.
