The Ridgefield Democratic Town Committee is diving into Donald Trump’s Mandate for Leadership:
The Conservative Promise, known as Project 2025.
It starts off noble enough.
“Freedom is a fragile thing and it’s never more than one generation away from extinction. It is not ours by way of inheritance; it must be fought for and defended constantly by each generation.” President Ronald Reagan.
We agree.
But then Project 2025 descends into a full-fledged tirade against the fundamental freedoms set forth in our Constitution.
Welcome to Project 2025.
Page 3: P2025 Objectives
- “Restore the family as the centerpiece of American life and protect our children.
- “Dismantle the administrative state and return self-governance to the American people.
- “Defend our nation’s sovereignty, borders, and bounty against global threats.
- “Secure our God-given individual rights to live freely-what our Constitution calls ‘the Blessings of Liberty.’”
30 chapters. 922 pages. Authored by the ultra-conservative Heritage Foundation that gave us the right-wing Supreme Court. Written by 400 ultra-MAGA Conservatives, so-called scholars and policy experts. With “hundreds of clear and concrete policy recommendations for White House offices, Cabinet departments, Congress, and agencies, commissions, and boards.” Their exact words. Not ours.
It’s a detailed blueprint for the end of the American way of life. The demise of Democracy as we know it, love it and have lived it for 248 years.
We can stop this “mandate” from becoming reality on January 21, 2025. Every American, Democrat or not, can have a role in stopping it—starting now and right through Election Day, Nov. 5.
The LBGTQ+ community is anxious & scared. And rightly so.
On Page 4-5, Project 2025, the radical 920-page blueprint by The Heritage Foundation for a new far-right Administration, calls for deleting the following list of terms: “sexual orientation & gender identity (“SOGI”), diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), gender, gender equality, gender equity, gender awareness, gender sensitivity…”
It labels any books, movies, and TV shows that include LGBTQ+ content or characters as pornographic. And must be outlawed. “The people who produce & distribute it should be imprisoned. Educators and public librarians who purvey it should be classed as registered sex offenders.” Scary? You bet.
On page 584, it calls for rescinding “regulations prohibiting discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation, gender identity, transgender status, and sex characteristics.”
Adoption & foster care agencies would be allowed to legally discriminate against gay or non-Christian families looking to adopt.
Project 2025 will leave our already-vulnerable children, family, friends & neighbors at increased risk for discrimination when trying to rent an apartment, go to school, and more.
We cannot allow it to happen.
We need President Kamala Harris, a House of Representatives, U.S. Senate, State & Local government like Ridgefield’s own @senatorjulie; @senatorcecimaher; @aimeebergergirvaloct; @savetconstantinect to protect LBGTQ+ rights.
